THE PERSON BEHIND THE PRACTICE
I’m Nate Justice.
You work with me directly.
I built Signal & Root around a belief shaped by years of working with people: behavior deserves attention, and so do the conditions around it.
Experience with people.
Attention to context.
For more than two decades, I have worked in residence life and student affairs—settings where individual needs, team relationships, institutional expectations, and real-time decisions meet every day. I have supervised staff, developed teams, and helped people find their footing through change.
How I approach the work.
When someone withdraws, a team gets stuck, or a leader finds themself repeating the same conversation, I want to understand both what is happening and what surrounds it.
We can look at roles, relationships, pressures, and history without losing sight of individual responsibility. We can ask honest questions without rushing to blame. And we can stay focused on what you can do next.
I use CliftonStrengths as one way to explore that fuller picture. A talent may serve you well in one setting and become strained or overused in another. The value comes from connecting what you learn with the situations you are actually navigating.
What you can expect from me.
- Careful attention to your situation, rather than a ready-made explanation.
- Honest questions and a steady outside perspective.
- Respect for what you know about your work and the people in it.
- A connection between reflection and the choices you need to make.
Let’s begin with your situation.
If this sounds like the support you are looking for, tell me what is bringing you here.
